Inquiring about where you can do gorilla trekking or which park to book your gorilla trekking safari? In the entire world, Mountain gorillas live freely in Uganda, Rwanda and D.R. Congo but because of instability in D.R. Congo, gorilla trekking is actively done in Uganda and Rwanda.

Gorilla Trekking In Uganda
Gorilla trekking in Uganda is in pre-historic Bwindi Forest National Park nestled in South Western Uganda.  Bwindi which is divided up into two areas that is to say the Northern area and southern area accommodates the biggest number of Mountain Gorillas. In the Northern area is Buhoma sector and Ruhija sector while in the southern sector is Nkuringo and Rushaga sectors. Gorilla permits are sold in terms of sectors and this goes hand in hand with accommodation bookings. Bwindi forest National Park has a variety of accommodations ranging from Luxury gorilla safari accommodations to Budget accommodations.




How to get to Bwindi Forest For gorilla trekking
The main means of transport to Bwindi forest for gorilla trekking is road transport. It doesn’t matter whether private means or Public means as long as you get there in time. Gorilla trekking normally starts as early as 8.30 am so you must spent a night in Bwindi before gorilla trekking to avoid the risk of missing out on your gorilla trek. Public transport to bwindi may be cheaper but your safety is at stake because of the frequent road accidents, thugs, bad roads and even the buses stop fur away from the park so you need to book transfers. Guarantee of a window seat is quite a challenge if you wish to enjoy the beautiful en route scenery

Flying gorilla trekking
Flying gorilla trekking is another alternative means of transport that one can use to get to Bwindi forest National Park. There is a provision for every day scheduled gorilla trekking safaris or charter flights to Kihihi Air strip. For those who wish to reduce on the long hours of driving on the bumpy roads, this would be a great option to take. You will also need to hire a car for your transfers to the lodge where you will spend the nights. We book flight tickets for our clients and even organise transfers for these a clients.

Mgahinga gorilla National Park
This park is located at the entre south western volcanic point close to the Rwanda Boarder. It has only one gorilla trekking family which at times migrates to Rwanda. This is the reason why gorilla trekking permits in this area are sold on the day of tracking because availability of the gorillas is only guaranteed on the day of tracking. 

Rwanda Gorilla Trekking
Gorilla trekking in Rwanda is done in Volcanoes National Park times called Parc National des Vocans. It accommodates all the mountain gorilla families in Rwanda that is to say Susa gorilla family, Karisimbi gorilla group, Sabyinyo gorilla group, Amahoro gorilla family, Umbano gorilla group, Kwitonda, group 13 gorilla family, Ugende gorilla group and Bwenge gorilla group. Early in the morning after briefing at ORRTN, you are allocated a gorilla family to trek. Like Bwindi forest in Uganda, Volcanoes national park has a variety of accommodations to choose from ranging from luxury to budget accommodations.



How to get to Rwanda for gorilla trekking
After embarking off your flight at Kigali airport, you can get into a cab that can take you to Volcanoes National park but this depends on your arrival time. In case it is too late, you can spend the night in Kigali and then drive to Volcanoes National par the following day or you can rise up early and drive to ORTPN for gorilla trekking.  You will be allocated a gorilla family to trek at this point. Rwanda is a country of several hills so flights may not be common because of difficulty in landing.

D.R. Congo gorilla trekking
Gorilla trekking in D.R. Congo is done in Virunga National park. However booking the gorilla trekking permit may be quite a challenge as a result of Instability in the D.R. Congo.
