8 gorilla permits are issued out per day per gorilla family and few families were habituated for tourism in Uganda.  Gorilla permits are sold at first come first serve and reserving the gorilla permit for you may be quite hard because of the great demand. The price for a gorilla permit in Uganda is $600 but at times discounted gorilla permits are sold out in low seasons like April, May and November.



What to do before Gorilla trekking
Before gorilla trekking in Uganda , you must try to be fit because mountain gorillas live in highland areas where you may need to strain your muscles a bit to get to see them. This doesn’t mean that the hand capped cannot trek gorillas. There is a provision for hiring a sedan chair or porters to carry you to the gorillas. You must also take some anti-malarias to prevent catching malaria. In case you have any communicable disease, it is best to declare and volunteer to stay behind because gorillas are highly susceptible to human diseases. 

What to do while trekking to see the gorillas
As you trek to see the gorillas, you must be conscience of there presence in the jungle. You must follow the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking passed to you during briefing. You must keep your voices low because gorillas are very sensitive to intruders, ask for assistance from the ranger guide in case you wish to easy your self, do not litre in the pack, keep up with the pace of others  so as not to get lost in the wilderness and so much more.

What to do while in the presence of gorillas
Gorilla trekking may be enjoyable but you must know that gorillas are wild animals that may change behaviour at any time. Gorillas are known for being serene but when they get agitated, they may become furious. Don’t use a camera with a flash because this makes the gorillas feel suspicious about your presence. The distance from the gorillas must be at least 7 meters away to reduce on the chances of spreading any communicable disease. Only one hour is permitted in the presence of the gorillas so you need utilise it maximally. Trekking gorillas in Uganda is very interesting and rewarding
