Gorilla Trekking Uganda Bwindi Safari



Gorilla trekking in Bwindi forest national park is a life time experience. You must be ready to get out of your comfort zone of the daily beach holidays where you relax dressed in light coloured clothes. It is a safari in Uganda that gives you the chance to test your physical fitness as you hike up the steep ridges to get to the top especially when there is scarcity of food at the bottom or when it rains heavily.



How to book a gorilla permit for this safari
Upon inquiring for a gorilla trekking safari, we call for gorilla permit availability at Uganda wildlife Authority for the dates you desire to travel and promptly get back to you with feed back. In case you are very sure those are your dates of preference, we request you to pay for your gorilla permit to secure it. Gorilla permits are sold at first come first serve basis so you must be very ready to pay. At this same point, we recommend that you advise the type of accommodation you wish to use.

Where does gorilla trekking take place?
In Uganda gorilla trekking is done in Bwindi Forest National park which is one of the still surviving forests of the ice age period. About 400 mountain gorillas are residents of this forest and for tourism purposes; only 10 gorilla families were habituated. Other gorillas live in the wild and are not habituated. To conserve the existence of the mountain gorillas, only 8 people are permitted to visit the gorillas so as not to spoil there environment because of massive visits.




What To Pack for Gorilla Trekking?
The gorilla trekking wear include packing garden gloves, poncho or rain jacket, tracking boots, long sleeved shirt and trouser, energy bites, water proof rack sack, hire a walking stick, hat, insect repellent, sound proof camera . These are very essential on the day of tracking gorillas. Hire a porter in case you are not sure of your fitness to give you extra support when tire and carry your tracking package.

Which accommodation to book for gorilla trekking?

Accommodation in Bwindi National park is categorised into luxury, midrange and Budget accommodation. In both the Northern and southern sectors of Bwindi forest national park has a variety of accommodations to choose from. From August 2013, the Uganda wildlife Authority fused out the paper gorilla permits and substituted them with temporary wildlife gorilla trekking Cards.t5hese are issued according to the sector not gorilla trekking group of family that has been the case. 

How to get to Bwindi forest national park?
On a private gorilla trekking safari, we hire a 4x4 wheel vehicle to transport you to Bwindi forest. The drive is about 9 to 10 hours on a scenic road that goes through rolling hills of Kigezi. Meandering rivers, green vegetation cover and several other sites make the journey interesting to the extent of forgetting the long drive. It is best to spend a night in either Kampala or Entebbe so that you have the time to prepare for the journey like change some of your money to Uganda shillings, sort out how is most preferred for your safari in case you have a lot of baggage and request the hotel or guest house to keep what you do not need.
Flying gorilla trekking safaris are currently making travel to Bwindi so accessible in that you can fly into Uganda early in the morning and embark on an afternoon flight to Bwindi on the same day.
