What to wear on Gorilla trekking safari and pack as gears
for a comfortable trek whether in Uganda or Rwanda cuts across. Since gorilla
trekking involves staying in a cold environ where rain falls without warning,
its best to prepare for your tour way in advance.Choose carefully your gorilla trekking wear.
Warm cloths are
very comfortable for your stay in Bwindi forest National Park and Volcanoes
National Park. This is a cold moist thick forest with lots of volcanic
highlands around. In the evening, it gets so cold and may require some in-house
fireplace for extra warmth. Carry long trousers with colours that match the
jungle because during gorilla trekking, you hike through boggy grounds that may
make you dirty. A long sleeve shirt shields you from stinging nettles and
scratching thorns.
Tracking boots
are safe for gorilla trekking since you have to walk in the jungle. They help
you manoeuvre the soggy ground and get up and down the slopes easily. Your feet
are protected from the sharp pieces. Together with a tick and warm pair of
stockings, you will enjoy your walk to see the gorillas in the wilderness.
Garden gloves are
vital during gorilla trekking since at some point you have to get extra support
from the branches close by that may be slippery from the regular rains and
rotting leaves. They keep you warmed up too.
A camera keeps
memories of your gorilla tracking safari. You may use it to take photographs of
the gorillas, accommodation you stayed at, the people you shared your safari
with and several others. This however must be sound proof and flash less because
mountain gorillas are scared by unfamiliar sound.
A rain coat or poncho
is also great during gorilla trekking safari. This is because rain falls at any
time of the day and seasons change regularly. Since the forest is always cold,
you do not need to get colder from the rain. This will make your trip uncomfortable.
A small bag or rack
sack to carry some of the simple things you need during gorilla tracking is
also important. This hover must be water proof because it rains at any time of
the day so you need to protect your property. Putting you items in one pack is
also very safe.
An insect repellent
will guard you against stinging nettles. This you must apply before heading to
the ranger station for briefing because during the walk there is no ample time
to do this since you are not sure whether you to 2 hrs or 8 hours in the
jungle. It all depends on the movement of the gorillas.
A hut can also be
of help to protect your head from stinging insects that fly and drops of water.
Water and packed
lunch must be remembered before leaving for briefing. This is because you
need to drink to quench your thirst and also the time of returning after your
gorilla trek is not known so you must carry packed lunch.
Some energy bites
keep you going since the walk is tiring although rewarding when you get face to
face with the gorillas.
When packing gears and cloths for your gorilla trekking
tour, you must ensure you have a list by your side in order not to forget any
item
